Half Day Trip departing daily from Auckland to Waitomo

Ever heard of a glow worm? These unique species, scientifically named Arachnocampa Luminosa are indigenous to New Zealand and thousands of these insects make their home in the Waitomo Grotto.

The Waitomo Glowworm Cave Tour begins at the airport, after which you commence on a two and a half hour trip into South Auckland and Waikato, with the opportunity to stop over at particularly beautiful destinations for selfies and photographs.

You’ll have a quick 30 minute break to do some quick shopping at the Gift Shop and to grab a quick bite at the Homestead.

The tour then commences in earnest, with a curated 45 minute tour of the Waitomo Cave Tour with a brief but in depth conversation about the history of the caves, the glow worm and the formations seen.

The tour then ends with a boat ride along the Waitomo River, providing a beautiful end to a wonderful journey.

The total duration of the trip should be about 7-8 hours with pick ups from 6:30 to 7:00 AM.
